Many apartment complexes celebrate this day by organizing a flag hoisting. Indian flag is a national symbol representing our pride. It is very important to respect the national flag.
The apartment management committee or association of the apartment complex can make a list of dos and don’ts for the dignity and honor of the National Flag and give a copy of the same to every resident to create awareness and prevent misuse of the flag. Following are some of the rules or flag hoisting codes.
  • As per the Indian Flag Code, the shape of national flag should be a perfect rectangle. The ratio between the length and width should be 3:2.
  • The tricolor panels of the flag should have equal size and in right order. Saffron should be on top, white in middle and green at bottom. In center of the white panel, there should be an Ashoka Chakra in navy blue color with 24 spokes equally spaced.
  • During the hoisting ceremony, when the flag is raised, the saffron panel should be on the top. The flag should never be hoisted upside down.
  • There should not be any lettering or inscriptions of any type on the national flag. A damaged flag should not be hoisted.
  • The flag should never be hoisted at half pole, unless the government specifically demands. The flag should not touch the ground.
